Ask a hundred Horror fans who their favorite modern scream queen is, and one name is bound to come up over and over again. She’s the icon and fan favorite who started her career in one of the most beloved and influential Horror franchises of all time and has continued to do exceptional work in the genre over the last 30 years.
DANIELLE HARRIS started her career at the tender age of 7 when she was cast in the ABC soap opera One Life to Live. But her breakout role came at the age of 11 when she beat out several other young actresses to win the role of young Jamie Lloyd in the fourth edition of the Halloween franchise.
She returned the following year for the sequel, Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers. In January 2007, it was announced that Harris had been cast as Annie Bracket in Rob Zombie’s remake of the horror landmark Halloween. Fans were ecstatic to see the actress return to the franchise that made her a Horror icon eighteen years prior.
While Zombie originally wanted to avoid casting anyone from the original franchise in his film, he changed his mind after Danielle’s powerful audition. Danielle returned for Zombie’s sequel, Halloween II in 2009.
After she burst onto the Horror scene in Halloween 4 and 5, Harris went on to have quite an impressive career in front of and behind the camera, with memorable roles in Urban Legend, Stake Land, Hatchet 2 and 3, and Inoperable, just to name a few. She’s also an accomplished voice actor, and she made her directorial debut in 2013 with the horror comedy Among Friends.
Despite her success, Harris has not forgotten her roots and still has so much love for the role that launched her career.
A regular on the convention circuit, she is known for being incredibly kind and gracious — eagerly sharing a sincere love of the genre and an appreciation for the fans who have loved her since she was a child, as well as those just discovering the talented actress.
It’s our tremendous honor to celebrate the career of Horror’s reigning scream queen, Danielle Harris, the woman Sylvia Soska called “the Natalie Portman of Horror”.
